Acts 2:41  ,42 The Message (MSG)
"41-42That day about three thousand took him at his word, were baptized and were signed up. They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers."
In the beginning of Acts chapter 2 The Day of Pentecost takes place where 120 believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Following this incredible event Peter stands with the eleven other disciples and addresses the crowd who were both amazed and perplexed at what was taking place. The Holy Spirit in His power speaks through Peter and the result is three thousand take him at his word! This demonstrates the beginning of the fulfillment of the promise Jesus made in Acts 1:8 "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth. (NASB)"
This is where the church begins! The Holy Spirit gives us incredible insight in how they kept the 3,000 and continued to grow. In verse 42 its says "They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers." As a young adult ministry we are committed to these 3 areas. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
1st Friday of the month - Free for all/Drawing near
Anything is possible. Whether it be a movie, dinner, barbeque, Frisbee tournament, sledding, or a concert, etc. Every other month we will launch our first driven worship and prayer nights!
2nd Friday of the month - Bible Study
We take this time to search God's word regarding different topics or books of the bible that we can relate to our lives. We find ways to apply God's truth, promises, and wisdom, and learn through one another's experiences in an open discussion.
3rd Friday of the month - Helping Ministry
We search out ways to reach out to our community and church for the purpose of helping others in need.
4th Friday of the month - Game Night
We dedicate this night to fun, food, and socializing. Whether we play cranium, ping-pong, euchre, softball, kickball, basketball, catchphrase or whatever - you are sure to have a great time.
5th Friday of the month - Guest Speaker
Since these Fridays are rare, we dedicate this night to a special guest speaker.
